- Wozniacki, seeking her first Grand Slam title, trailed by a set and 4-1 in the second before coming back to beat the 2004 U.S.Open chamion.
- Serena Williams of the USA earns a spot in the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-4 victory Monday against Ana Ivanovic of Serbia.
- Novak Djokovic is also edging toward the Men's championship. The Serbian has been almost invincible this year and is through to the quarters without dropping a set, although he had to survive an epic tiebreakeer to maintain the record.
